Lincolnshire and Rutland County Final of the Young Enterprise Innovation Awards 2008
12th May 2008 at the University of Lincoln, Jackson Lecture Theatre
The Lincolnshire and Rutland County Final of the Young Enterprise Innovation Awards will take place at the University of Lincoln on Monday May 12th 18:00.
Young Enterprise is an educational charity set up to inspire and equip young people to learn and succeed through enterprise. The event provides a celebration of company finalists in the Lincolnshire and Rutland area, who will be competing for a place in the Regional Final.
For guests, this event provides an opportunity to see the acheivements of the students, as well as network with other local businesses.

Newark Jazz Festival - May 16-18th - www.newarkjazz.co.uk
Newark is now THE Jazz Festival for the East Midlands, featuring 70 live concerts at 30 town centre venues over one weekend! You can see and hear some of the biggest names on the UK jazz scene and discover Newark's great pubs, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, retail outlets, Bandstand, Palace Theatre, stunning Parish Church - even a private art gallery!
The line-up offers jazz for most tastes - mainstream, swing, New Orleans, gypsy, bebop, bossa nova, big band, trad, modern, a traditional jazz parade - even a little Cajun. Book early to see some the big names and, with free entry to most gigs, there's a great opportunity to try something new. Enjoy a drink and a meal with friends and soak up the relaxed, friendly atmosphere that live jazz creates!
There is also a Jazz Violin workshop on the Saturday, a Jazz Parade from the castle, and Jazz Trains running from Lincoln and from Nottingham into Newark - see website for details.

St Barnabas Hospice Ladies Only Midnight Walk
Saturday 12th July 2008
'Make every step count in this 6 mile sponsored walk through historic Lincoln'
On Saturday 12th July, Lincoln's streets will be filled with hundreds of women all walking for St Barnabas. Whatever the reason, to have a fun night out with friends, family or colleagues, to get fit, to remember a loved one or to make new friends - sign up now and support St Barnabas - plus receive your free Midnight Walk t-shirt!
Beginning at Sincil Bank, home to Lincoln City FC, the 6 mile route (approx) will wind its way through the streets, taking in Lincoln's landmarks, including Steep Hill, the Cathedral, Lincoln Castle, Newport Arch and Brayford Pool.
There will be plenty going on at Sincil Bank - take in the party atmosphere and join the pre-walk warm up then grab your bottle of water and set off. The event will begin at 9.40pm with the walk beginning at 10.30pm.
On arrival bank to Sincil Bank, everyone will receive welcome refreshments plus a medal to commemorate the evening, as well as a free 5 day family pass to David Lloyd Burton Waters.
